About Us
The ‘ISL Everywhere’ project was developed by Sharing the Journey, the Irish Deaf Society and the Centre for Deaf Studies in conjunction with the Digital Skills WebElevate programme and part funded by the Department of Justice.
ISL refers to Irish Sign Language the native language of the Deaf Community in Ireland.
‘ISL Everywhere’ was designed specifically to support families of deaf and hard of hearing children learning ISL.(IDS).
Free, easy to access and easy-to-use ‘ISL Everywhere’ is invaluable for anyone wanting to learn Irish Sign Language.
The ‘ISL Everywhere’ glossary allows almost instant access to the most commonly used words and phrases in a young child’s life.
Who are we?
The Irish Deaf Society is the largest Deaf-led organisation in Ireland working with both the Deaf and hard of hearing community. Their work focuses on issues such as achieving equality and access for Deaf people.
The Centre for Deaf Studies is part of the School of Linguistic, Speech and Communication Sciences at Trinity College Dublin, the only university in Ireland offering a Bachelor degree in Deaf Studies, with specialisms in ISL teaching and ISL/English interpreting.
Sharing the Journey is an independent parent led organisation established in 2011 by parents of d/Deaf and hard of hearing children. Sharing the Journey offers information and support to parents of d/Deaf and hard of hearing children, regardless of the communication, education and technological decisions they have made or will make for their children.
